Understanding the support
Whether you’re looking for support for yourself, a family member or a participant you work with as a support coordinator, this page explains what the support involves, how it’s funded and how to get started with us.
Assistance with Daily Personal Activities is a type of NDIS personal care support. A support worker assists with, or supervises, self-care tasks you need help with because of your disability.
The aim is not to do everything for you. It’s to help you complete daily routines safely and comfortably, and to build your independence where that’s one of your goals.
Person-centred personal care
In your NDIS plan, this support is funded from your Core Supports budget, under the Assistance with Daily Life category.
The support worker’s time.
Everyday living costs such as groceries, toiletries or rent.
Every participant’s support looks different. Depending on your plan and what you’d like help with, our support workers can assist with:
Including hair washing, drying and skin care.
Choosing clothes, shaving, hair styling and make-up.
Support delivered discreetly and respectfully.
Brushing teeth and denture care.
Setting up meals and help with eating and drinking.
Safe transfers between bed, chair, shower or vehicle.
Moving with confidence and less risk of falls.
So your day starts and ends the way you like it.
Reminders when it's time to take your medication.
Doing more of these tasks yourself, if that's your goal.
Personal care often works best alongside other supports. You can explore our full range of NDIS services, including household tasks, life skills development and transport assistance.
Who it’s for
This support may suit you if you:
Have an NDIS plan that includes Core Supports funding
Live with a physical, intellectual, psychosocial, sensory or neurological disability that affects your self-care
Want to stay living at home, or in shared or supported accommodation, with the right help in place
Are a family member or carer who needs reliable support for someone you love, or some time to rest
Personal care is one of the most private kinds of support anyone can receive. That’s why we build it around you, not around a fixed schedule or a checklist.
You decide how your support runs, from what time you shower to which clothes you wear. We record your preferences in your support plan so every worker follows them.
Our support workers explain what they’re doing, ask before helping and give you as much privacy as is safe. Tell us anytime if something doesn’t feel right.
Tell us what matters to you in a support worker, such as gender, language, personality and interests. You also choose the days and times of your support, within your plan.
We aim to match you with a small, regular team of support workers. Familiar faces build trust, so you don’t have to explain your routine again and again.
We welcome people of all cultures, languages, abilities and identities, and work to provide culturally safe support for Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and culturally diverse participants.
A visit might start with a friendly check-in, then help to shower, dress and prepare breakfast, plus a medication reminder. Your worker notes anything the next worker should know.
